A Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Netflix Adaptation Wouldn’t Be Easy
With the great success of Netflix’s Castlevania series, which finally wrapped up its story after four seasons, and the news that another series set in the same universe is in development, many fans have begun to wish for an adaptation of the legendary Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. ComingSoon spoke to series executive producer Kevin Kolde about his love for the classic PlayStation game and why it wouldn’t be the easiest entry in the series to turn into a show for Netflix.

While the Netflix series is based upon Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, it shares several key characters from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (namely Dracula and his son Alucard). This is one of the main reasons why it’d be difficult to adapt.
“So I really liked Symphony of the Night as a game, right? I think that that’s where it starts. I think it’s a classic Castlevania game,” said Kolde to ComingSoon. “Symphony of the Night from a story standpoint is an interesting challenge in that in Symphony of the Night, Alucard has to fight his dad. Right? We did that in Season 2. So I’m not sure how you do that again from a storytelling standpoint and make it meaningful. So there would be challenges to that particular story, but there are other elements to it that are interesting. The Richter [Belmont] element, the Maria [Renard] element that you could look at, but the ultimate fight between Alucard and Dracula, I don’t know how we would do it better than we did in Season 2, to be honest with you.”
While a Netflix adaptation of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night might not be on the way, fans can watch the complete Season 4 of the show now on the streaming service to see how Trevor Belmont’s story ends.
